Nature reserve "Schloss Prunn"

The castle on the coral reef!

150 million years ago the bigger part of Germany was covered from a flat, warm sea. Its coast was along the nothern part of Ratisbona. In the shallow water of the offshore coast grew large coral reefs. These coral reefs are till now existing as hard limestone. Imposing relicts of this time are the rocks at the village Prunn and the belonging castle "Schloss Prunn".

The plants which grow now there are specialized for the extreme hard, rocky surroundings. Because of this hard circumstances the plants need special protection. Therefore it is imortant that people stay on the fixed path.
