Asam Church at Weltenburg Abbey

The abbey church has been built and decorated by the Asam brothers between 1716 and 1739. Today it is one of the most important works of art of the European Baroque.

This is the first church to have been rebuilt and refitted by the famous brothers Cosmas Damian and Egid Quirian Asam. Today it still impresses with its wonderful architecture and its splendid frescos. Its beauty is at its top during the first morning hours, when the sun shines through the three rear glass windows and floods the church with its bright and warm light.
